Partial Road Closure of King Harald Street Junction - Public Bus Service Diversions

3 September 2024

To allow for essential repairs to a sewer in Commercial Road, Lerwick, part of the junction at the northerly end of King Harald Street will be closed to all traffic from Tuesday 3rd September.

This partial road closure will mean that bus services which turn right into King Harald Street on their way in to town will be diverted along Lochside for the duration of the closure.

The individual services affected are:

  • Service 9 from Walls (departures from Walls at 0755, 0955, 1320, 1810 Monday to Friday and 0755, 0955, 1320, 1620, 1810 on Saturdays)
  • Service 12 from Aith (departures from Aith at 0800 Monday to Friday)
  • Service 19 from Vidlin (departures from Vidlin at 1205, 1805 Monday to Saturday)
  • Service 21 from Hillswick (departures from Hillswick at 1015, 1530 Monday to Saturday)
  • Service 23 from Toft (departures from Toft at 0730, 0905, 1210, 1420, 1655, 1805 Monday to Friday and 0845, 1200, 1400, 1655 and 1805 on Saturdays)

Passengers using these services will be able to alight buses at the North Lochside stop in place of the Bolts stop.

All services using King Harald Street on the journey out of Lerwick will be unaffected. Services 1 (Lerwick Town Service), 4 (Scalloway Service) and 6 (Sumburgh Service) are also unaffected.

This disruption may last for a period of up to three weeks, until 5pm on Friday 27th September, although it is hoped that the works can be completed sooner.
